Gallery - Kevin Carter and Mary-Catherine Kenny (an Italian Wedding)
When Kevin mailed me from the States to ask if I'd be interested in shooting his wedding in Italy, I feigned cool professionalism, but of course was really excited. It was a beautiful location, a castle on a hill a few miles from Florence.
The families had flown in from the states, I flew in from the UK and we all met up late the night before the wedding. In the UK you are not allowed to be married outdoors, but no problem here. It was magical - a cool breeze, such friendly company and an astonishing setting.
The day after the wedding I was offered a quick tour of Florence with the newly weds, which I though was astonishingly kind of Kevin and Mary-Cat. After all, would you have spent the first morning of your married life with the photographer?
A quite remarkable event, the kind of wedding you get in movies, but this one was real and I was there. God bless America!
